President Prabowo and PM Starmer emphasized the urgency of establishing an international stabilization force to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian assistance can proceed without obstacles.
This virtual meeting also became an important momentum in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as paving the way for the official launch of the Indonesia-UK Strategic Partnership at the beginning of next year.
In his written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that President Prabowo and PM Starmer agreed that this strategic partnership would be a new milestone in the history of relations between Indonesia and the UK.
“Both parties plan to officially launch the Indonesia-UK Strategic Partnership, which is expected to be a new milestone in the history of cooperation between the two countries,” said Teddy in a press statement from the Indonesian Presidential website.
Teddy said that one of the main focuses of the discussion was the maritime sector.President Prabowo and PM Starmer agreed to strengthen the Maritime Partnership Program, including maritime security collaboration, information exchange, and increasing law enforcement capacity.
Teddy then said that President Prabowo and PM Starmer also discussed accelerating the Economic Growth Partnership.
President Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s readiness to expand economic collaboration oriented towards job creation and long-term growth.
“President Prabowo said that Indonesia is ready to expand collaboration that encourages job creation and sustainable economic growth,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
In the education sector, PM Starmer expressed full support for plans to expand the presence of leading British universities in Indonesia.
“PM Starmer paid attention to plans to expand the presence of leading British universities in Indonesia and conveyed the British government’s commitment to providing up to 10,000 scholarships for Indonesian students,” said Teddy.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy emphasized that this meeting was a significant momentum in preparing a series of Indonesia-UK strategic agendas.
“This virtual meeting marks an important first step towards a joint agenda at the start of next year, and reinforces the commitment of the two countries to build an inclusive, visionary and mutually beneficial partnership,” concluded Teddy.
