From the results of the investigation, it was discovered that the logs came from the barge Ronmas 69. The logs came from the Mentawai region.
“The wood is known to have come from the Ronmas 69 barge which was carrying 986 logs or the equivalent of 4,800 cubic meters belonging to PT Minas Pagai Lumber. The ship departed from PT Minas Pagai Lumber Abanbaga Jetty Port, Mentawai Islands, on November 2 2025 with the destination of Semarang Gold Harbor to be handed over to PT Makmur Cemerlang Bersama,” said Helfi quoting

On November 5 2025 at 20.30 WIB, the ship’s engine died because the propeller was entangled in trash ropes, so the ship was no longer able to tow the barge. The ship’s crew then dropped anchor to restrain the barge’s movement from the strong current that was heading towards the shoreline.
However, on November 7 2025 at around 16.00 WIB, the anchor rope broke so that the barge tilted further due to the current. This condition caused part of the log load to fall into the sea and eventually end up stranded on Tanjung Setia beach.
The police coordinated with the Ministry of Forestry and related stakeholders to carry out checks.
“Document inspection shows that the ship has a valid sailing approval permit (SIB) issued by the Sikakap Class III UPP Office. Interrogation of 14 crew members, including the captain, was also carried out. All crew members have complete identification and shipping certificates in accordance with regulations,” he said.
Inspection of the wood cargo is also carried out.As a result, transport documents, wood barcodes and SIPUHH records stated that the wood came from PBPH PT Minas Pagai Lumber and was classified as legal cargo.
“The search for the ID Bar Code labels on the logs (3 logs that were still legible) was identified as being recorded in the Forest Products Administration System (SIPUHH),” said the Regional Police Chief.
PT Minas Pagai Lumber itself is known to have obtained an IUPHHK-HA permit covering an area of ± 78 thousand hectares based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry since 1995, with an extension in 2013 in accordance with SK.502/Menhut-II/2013 dated 18 July 2013 which is retroactive to 13 April 2011.
