“Based on his statement, it is known that there are still two other trucks heading to Jakarta,” he said.
Edy said the team immediately moved to Padalarang, West Bandung, and managed to secure two motorbike trucks, three box cars, one Avanza, as well as seven drivers and keneks carrying a total of 184 bales of imported used clothing.
“All the evidence and witnesses were then taken to Polda Metro Jaya for further examination,” he said.
Eddie
stated that this disclosure was a form of police commitment to oversee government policy regarding controlling imported used clothing which could disrupt the domestic market.
“This action is part of law enforcement efforts in the field of trade and TPPU. We have secured the evidence and witnesses, and investigators will continue to conduct the case to provide legal certainty,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, added that the police’s steps were in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction.
According to Budi, this instruction is also in line with orders from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who emphasized that the National Police will continue to consistently crack down on all forms of smuggling of imported used clothing.
“When implementing restrictions on used goods, the President’s direction is to think about product substitution,” he said.
