Chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, explained that the revision was an initiative of the DPR RI Legislative Body (Baleg).He then gathered opinions from DPR factions regarding the fourth amendment to the Cooperative Law.
“We ask for approval from the Plenary Meeting of the Council, can we agree and agree that the faction’s opinions are submitted in writing to the leadership of the council? Agree, yes?”asked Puan at the 8th DPR RI Plenary Meeting for Session III Period 2025-2026 in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (18/11) which was greeted by calls of agreement and knocks of the gavel.

Puan then summoned the faction representatives one by one, starting from the PDI Perjuangan.Followed by the Golkar Party, Gerindra Party, National Democratic Party (NasDem), National Awakening Party (PKB), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), National Mandate Party (PAN), and Democratic Party.
After submitting the opinions of the eight DPR RI factions in writing, Puan Maharani asked for approval from all members of the council.
“The eight factions have expressed their respective factions’ opinions. Now the time has come for us to ask the honorable council session, whether the proposed bill on the initiative of the DPR RI Legislative Body regarding the Fourth Amendment to Law Number 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives can be approved as a draft bill proposed by the DPR RI? Agree? Thank you,” he stressed with a tap of the gavel.
Discussion of new regulations on cooperatives has also become one of the focuses of the Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono.This was confirmed after President Prabowo Subianto was appointed to replace Budi Arie Setiadi.
Cooperative Minister Ferry believes that Law Number 25 of 1992 concerning Cooperatives is too old and needs improvement.
“As soon as possible we will issue the National Cooperative System Law as a new law to replace the previous (UU) Number 25 of 1992,” said Ferry after being inaugurated as coordinating minister at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday (8/9).
