The state government of Melaka, Malaysia, plans to build a bridge connecting the neighboring country and Indonesia, with a travel time of around 40 minutes.

The Chief Minister of Melaka, Ab Rauf Yusoh, said that studies regarding the construction of the bridge will begin in January 2026. What will be discussed is the construction of a 47.7 kilometer long bridge from Pengakalan Balak at the Tanah Mosque to Indonesia.
Ab Rauf said the studies for this large-scale project would be perfected before being submitted to the National Physical Planning Council (MPFN).Later, MPFN will review the proposal and carry out an evaluation.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Returns Bodies of 9 Indonesian Citizens Victims of Fire in Hong Kong
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs repatriated the bodies of nine Indonesian citizens (WNI) victims of the fire at the Wang Fuk Court residential complex, Tai Po, Hong Kong, which occurred last November.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Hong Kong have facilitated the repatriation of the bodies of victims of the incident from Hong Kong to Indonesia.
“A total of eight bodies were returned to Indonesia with full funding through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs budget, while one body was paid for by the employer,” wrote the statement, as quoted from a release from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Australian PM Apologizes to Jews about Shooting at Bondi Beach
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese apologized to his country’s Jewish community for the mass shooting that targeted a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, Sydney, killing 15 people.
“As Prime Minister, I feel the burden of responsibility for the atrocities that occurred while I was in office, and I apologize for what the Jewish community and our nation as a whole experienced,” Albanese said on Monday (22/12).
Albanese promised that his government would be more active in ensuring the protection of religious communities, especially Australian Jews.
