sent a strong statement to the Minister of Forestry (Menhut)

to resign from his position due to the flood and landslide tragedy in West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh.
Usman believes that Raja Juli does not have competence in the forestry sector.
“If the Minister can’t do it, just resign. The Minister doesn’t understand forestry,” said Usman at the Commission IV working meeting with Raja Juli discussing the Sumatran floods and landslides, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (4/12).

To Raja Juli, Usman said that forestry issues could not be resolved only through rhetoric or blaming the previous government.According to him, the current forest damage is the full responsibility of the officials in office.
“How many years does it take to replant a forest that has been depleted? Trees with a diameter of two meters cannot grow back in a short time. That is the responsibility of the current Minister. Don’t throw it at the previous government,” said Usman.
He highlighted the Minister’s statement which quoted verses and hadiths, but was not in line with the policies taken.
Last October, Usman said that Raja Juli complained about forest management permits in South Tapanuli.On the other hand, the Regent also hopes that this permit will not be issued.However, on November 20, permission was actually issued by Raja Juli.
“It turns out that the permit was issued on November 20. So what the Minister said was not in line with everything. So it seems as if we can all be tricked,” said Usman.
King Juli’s response
After the meeting, Raja Juli considered that his current position was entirely the President’s prerogative.Therefore, he admitted that he was ready to be evaluated.
He added that public criticism of him in the flood and landslide tragedies in Sumatra and Aceh would become an aspiration for him.Currently, he admits that he only wants to work and leave the rest to President Prabowo Subianto.
“I believe that power belongs to Allah, and that is the President’s prerogative. So I am ready to be evaluated,” said Raja Juli at the Parliament Complex, Senayan.
Even so, he admitted that he had never issued a new logging Forest Utilization Business Permit (PBPH) during his tenure.He admitted that he actually issued PBPH for ecosystem restoration.
“I have already said, in my year as minister, I have not published any new PBPH for logging. What I have actually published is PBPH for environmental services or RE, ecosystem restoration,” he said.
