Komar assessed that this wish was different from Prabowo’s statement some time earlier when visiting flood victims in Sukajadi Village, Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, Friday (12/12).
On that occasion, said Komar, Prabowo asked people to start protecting nature and not cutting down trees carelessly.According to him, this order is the same as not destroying forests with oil palm.

“He said in Aceh that the people of Aceh must protect nature, right? So we interpret the order to protect nature, including not destroying natural forests to plant oil palm,” said Komar when contacted, Friday (19/12).
The member of the DPR Commission on politics and government said that the function of oil palm cannot replace other trees.This condition caused floods and landslides in Sumatra.
“And if we look at the incident in Sumatra, that is one of the causes, both in Aceh and in North Sumatra, that is one of the causes of deforestation,” he said.
Komar, who is also Chair of the PDIP DPP for Party Honor, appealed to regional heads from his party to remain careful regarding investment projects in Papua.
According to him, investment will not be commensurate with the natural damage which will also have an impact on the Papuan people.
“Because the Papuan people are already few. There are already few, so don’t take care of nature, in the end nature will also sacrifice itself,” said Komar.
“The power of the president, the power of regional heads is also limited by law, right, 5-10 years. But if you make the wrong policy, it could have a deep, long-term impact on the nation and state,” he added.
Prabowo Subianto encourages the planting of oil palm in the Papua region.He conveyed this in a briefing to regional heads throughout Papua at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
Prabowo proposed planting sugar cane and cassava to produce ethanol.He wants to produce fuel oil (BBM) from palm oil.Prabowo hopes that within five years of his leadership all regions can achieve food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency.
“And later we hope that in the Papua region oil palm will also be planted so that we can also produce fuel from palm oil,” said Prabowo.
