Syuriyah Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (
PBNU
) will hold
Plenary Meeting
at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, on Tuesday-Wednesday December 9-10.
This Plenary Meeting was held with two agendas, namely the Presentation of the Results of the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting and the Determination of the Acting PBNU General Chair.
The agenda was conveyed in a letter issued on December 2 2025 numbered 4799/PB.02/A.I.01.01/99/12/2025 which was signed by Rais Aam PBNU KH Mifrachul Akhyar and Katib Syuriyah PBNU KH Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir or Gus Tajul.

“Following up on the results of the decision of the Syuriyah Daily Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board on 29 Jumadal Ula 1447 H/20 November 2025 AD in Jakarta as attached to the Minutes of the Meeting,” quoted the letter.
The invitation letter was addressed to the Plenary Executive Board with a list of invitations attached.
In the attachment to the letter, there are a number of names of Mustasyar, Syuriyah Daily Management, A’wan, Tanfidziyah Daily Management, Chairman of the PBNU Institution, and also the Chairman of the Central Leadership of the NU Autonomous Body.
The Chairman of PBNU, Moh Mukri, also confirmed tomorrow’s plenary meeting, who emphasized that the plenary meeting is an important constitutional forum to ensure the continuity of PBNU’s leadership according to organizational rules.
Mukri emphasized that PBNU Syuriah’s decision to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as General Chair was a final and binding decision.
He said that tomorrow’s plenary meeting was part of the follow-up to the organizational mechanism in accordance with PBNU’s Syariah mandate.
“God willing. One of the agendas is the appointment of the Acting Chairman of the PBNU,” said Prof. Mukri, in his statement, last Friday (5/12).
He added that the entire process would be carried out by upholding the values of clerics, prudence and organizational rules.
Mukri also responded to the invitation to tomorrow’s Plenary Meeting which was only signed by Rais Aam and Katib PBNU, without the signatures of Tanfidziyah elements.
He said that the forum was indeed Syuriyah’s authority and Rais Aam was the Chairman of the PBNU Plenary Meeting, just as Rais PWNU/PCNU was also the Chairman of the Plenary Meeting at their respective management levels.
“Please read Article 8 Perkum 10/2025 concerning Meetings and Article 4 Perkum 16/2025 concerning Administrative Guidelines. It is very clear, the invitation meets these provisions,” he said.
