Padang-Bukittinggi national road
, West Sumatra began functional trials for two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles, and trucks with a maximum load of 8 tons.
This functional trial will be carried out from Tuesday (16/12) to Sunday (21/12) with operational times set at 16.00 WIB to 09.00 WIB.

“In the initial stage, this road section is intended for two-wheeled, four-wheeled vehicles and trucks with a maximum load of 8 tonnes, with traffic arrangements adjusted to field conditions,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari in his statement.
During the trial period, traffic regulation and security was carried out by the Padang Panjang Police together with related agencies.
Road users are also advised to obey traffic signs, follow officers’ directions and prioritize safety when crossing this road section.
Muhari said that outside of trial operational hours and during unfavorable weather conditions, the Padang-Bukittinggi National Road section will be completely closed.
“This closure is carried out to support the acceleration of reconstruction work while ensuring the safety and security of road users,” he said.
According to Muhari, BNPB together with related agencies will carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of functional trials.If the trial runs safely and according to the evaluation results, the work will proceed to the permanent treatment stage.
“The permanent handling phase is planned to last approximately seven months and is targeted for completion in July 2026, while still paying attention to technical and weather conditions,” he said.
