Sigit said that in this case his party had examined a number of witnesses, including collecting various pieces of evidence. He said, his party also coordinated with the Ministry of Forestry and the Ministry of the Environment.
“So that then we can assemble everything into strong evidence,” he said.
According to Sigit, the number of suspects could still increase.Because, he said, his party is still continuing to carry out investigations and in-depth investigations.
“The possibility will increase, because we received reports earlier, members continued to carry out in-depth research, and now they are also going down to several areas, so the possibility will increase,” he said.
Previously, the Directorate of Certain Crimes, Bareskrim Polri, would apply Articles on Environmental Crimes to Money Laundering (TPPU) in the case of logs which were suspected of causing floods and landslides in Sumatra.
Director of Certain Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Moh Irhamni said that currently his party has started an investigation regarding the discovery of wood in the Garoga and Anggoli River Basins in Tapanuli.
“We apply environmental crimes, then money laundering, as well as individual and corporate accountability,” he told reporters at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Tuesday (16/12).
