He bluntly said that Indonesia needs a minimum of 6 million new breeders starting next year so that the supply of eggs and chickens does not run into a deficit.

According to Dadan, each Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) aka MBG public kitchen requires a large supply of food.
For just one SPPG, four laying hen cages and nine broiler chicken cages are needed.Meanwhile, chicken feed must mostly come from corn.
“Just four laying cages require 18 hectares of corn harvest area because 50 percent of the feed must be corn,” explained Dadan.
Apart from chickens and eggs, each SPPG kitchen also requires 1.5 hectares of banana plantations to provide fruit twice a week as well as 32 catfish ponds if people in that area like to eat catfish.
Dadan assesses that this great need could become an economic opportunity for the communities around SPPG.
“And I think this is an extraordinary economic potential that anyone can discover

around SPPG,” he said.
Dadan added that BGN will coordinate with the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara Indonesia so that funding for livestock development can be directly targeted at the community around the MBG kitchen.
“Then regarding the supplies, I agree that everything is locally based, and we will convey it to Danantara so that the money will finance the communities around SPPG,” said Dadan.
He believes that this locally based approach is important so that village communities become part of the MBG food supply chain, starting from chicken farmers, fish farmers, to corn and banana farmers.
“We also need a minimum of 1 million new broiler chickens, broiler chickens to be bred. Otherwise, we will

too.Likewise for vegetables and others,” he added.
The MBG program, which is one of President Prabowo’s priorities, is expected to significantly increase national animal protein consumption.
The government, through the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) and the National Food Agency (Bapanas), has previously prepared an investment of IDR 20 trillion to build broiler and egg-laying chicken farms throughout Indonesia.
Minister of Agriculture and Head of Bapanas Andi Amran Sulaiman said this investment was part of a large downstream plan for the food and agricultural sector involving various ministries and institutions, including Danantara Indonesia.
This program is intended to ensure that there is no shortage of chicken and egg supplies along with the expansion of the MBG program.
Amran said the additional need to support the program reached 700 thousand tons of eggs and 1.1 million tons of broiler chickens per year.Apart from maintaining supply, this project is also expected to encourage economic equality in villages and create up to 3 million new jobs in the next four years.
The government is targeting construction of integrated chicken farms to begin in early 2026 after completion of the feasibility study.
