According to him, this is because many people who have old land certificates have not updated their data.Therefore, he appealed for immediate data updates to prevent overlapping ownership.
“The overlapping problem that occurs is usually because it is an old product that has not been entered into the land digitization system database and it appears that the land plot is empty, so that when there is an applicant who has submitted complete introductory documents showing the physical, juridical and historical documents of the land, a certificate can be issued,” said Nusron in a Coordination Meeting with Regional Heads throughout South Sulawesi, Thursday (13/11).

He said that overlapping certificates or the appearance of multiple certificates on one plot of land generally occurred with old certificates.
Nusron said that at that time, the land infrastructure, regulations and technology used were not as good as today.As a result, if the land is not looked after, the neighbors do not know each other, or the village government is not informed, it is difficult to know whether the plot of land has been certified or not.
Therefore, as part of efforts to encourage residents’ independence in safeguarding their land assets, Nusron urges the public to utilize the Touch Tanahku application.
This official application from the Ministry of ATR/BPN allows the public to check basic information on their land parcels, monitor the service process, and ensure that the land data recorded in the system is appropriate.It is hoped that the existence of this application can help people carry out initial checks before coming to the land office to update data.
Nusron added that the digitization of services and strengthening human resources currently being carried out by the ATR/BPN Ministry is a form of improvement.It is hoped that the problems that are currently surfacing are a form of the agency being in the process of transforming services.
He also asked people holding certificates issued from 1961 to 1997 to immediately re-check the status of their land plots and update their data at the local land office.
“Don’t let it overlap, don’t let it be taken over by people. Those who haven’t registered are immediately registered, it’s important there, and given clear boundaries,” he added.
Apart from that, Nusron also asked regional heads to instruct sub-district heads, village heads, and RT/RW to actively invite the public to update certificates.According to him, this is important so that land issues do not cause conflict in the future.
“Please regional heads, instruct sub-district heads, sub-district heads and RT/RW, people who hold certificates from 1961-1997, to come to the BPN office, update them. If necessary, we will re-measure them, adjust them now so that it doesn’t become a problem in the future,” he concluded.
