KAI Commuter
officially operates two series of electric trains (
KRL
) newly produced by PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or
INKA
for Jabodetabek Commuter Line services starting Tuesday (16/12).
KAI Commuter President Director Mochamad Purnomosidi said the operation was carried out after the train series had passed all the trial stages in accordance with applicable regulations.
“Starting Tuesday, December 16 2025, KAI Commuter will begin carrying out regular operations of the new CLI-225 KRL facilities produced by PT INKA on the Bogor route,” explained Purnomosidi in an official statement, Tuesday (16/12).

In the initial stage, he continued, the KRL made by INKA was operated on train set (TS) loop 20 and TS loop 22 for the Depok/Bogor-Manggarai/Jakarta Kota connection.A total of 8 trips per day will be served by CLI-225 KRL facilities on this route.
The operation of this new KRL is carried out to support the optimization of the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service as well as replacing the old KRL series which has entered a conservation period.
Currently, KAI Commuter manages 100 KRL series with a total of 1,064 trains serving 1,063 trips every day across all service lines.
The CLI-225 serial number is a continuation of the previous series, CLI-125.CLI is an abbreviation for Commuter Line Indonesia, while numbers 1 and 2 indicate the generation of KRL facilities, and number 25 indicates the year of manufacture.
Meanwhile, General Manager of INKA Corporate Secretary Bambang Sutrisno said that train production was entirely carried out domestically, precisely at INKA’s production facilities in Madiun and Banyuwangi.
“In the process, design and testing are carried out by referring to applicable safety and suitability standards, so that quality and performance are maintained and able to meet the operational needs of commuter services,” he said.
Through this collaboration, he continued, INKA supports the provision of domestically produced KRL facilities with the latest technology and in line with current facility needs by optimizing domestic industrial capacity.
It is hoped that the synergy between INKA and KAI Commuter can continue in line with the increasing mobility needs of urban communities, as well as supporting the sustainability of public transportation services in the future.
