“Today we officially released the Indonesian national tennis team athletes who will compete in the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok. This is a fight to bring a good name to the nation,” he said.
Nurdin reminded that two years ago Indonesia emerged as the overall tennis champion with four gold medals. This year, Pelti increased its target to five gold.
“With five gold medals, God willing, we can defend the overall title. This is also the target of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for PP Pelti,” he stressed.
He added that the team had undergone long preparations for eight months.
“In terms of abilities, the children are ready. They have shown extraordinary discipline and improved performance. Especially Janice and Aldila, who in various world tournaments continue to improve their rankings,” said Nurdin.
As a form of additional motivation, Pelti promised appreciation for the gold medal winners.
“In addition to bonuses from the state, PP Pelti will also provide a minimum bonus of IDR 100 million for each gold. This is a form of our real support,” said Nurdin.
He emphasized that Pelti also dispatched around 30 administrators and parents to provide direct support in Thailand.
From the athlete side, Aldila Sutjiadi said that all the players had undergone thorough preparation.
“We have all prepared ourselves from previous tournaments. Janice and I had two weeks of training in Bali, while Priska took part in tournaments in Japan and China,” said Aldila.
“Hopefully our efforts will bear fruit and we hope for full support from all the Indonesian people,” he added.
Meanwhile, Janice Tjen assessed that preparations were going well.He also emphasized that pressure was not his focus.
“I don’t want to get too fixated on targets. The important thing is to give my best in every match,” he said.
Regarding opponents to watch out for, Janice mentioned the home players.”Thailand has two singles players in the world’s top 200, and the Philippines are also strong. But I am ready to face everything,” he concluded.
