National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo
said his staff would regulate the digital space after 110 children were identified as planning
acts of terror
throughout 2025.
Sigit does not want technological developments to make the younger generation become victims of terrorist groups.
“Because there are things that we have to regulate in the use of information technology, which of course is not in the context of silencing, but we are providing better education,” said Listyo at the DIY Police Headquarters, Sleman, Friday (20/11).

“So that society, our children are then saved from the potential dangers of being exposed to certain beliefs, certain things which then endanger the safety of life and society,” he continued.
Sigit admitted that the recruitment and process of radicalizing children by terrorist networks by utilizing digital spaces, from social media to online games, is a new phenomenon or trend.
This finding is the result of the National Police’s in-depth investigation into a number of certain hobby community groups.
“They initially had a hobby. With this hobby, it turned out that later on we also explored the potential which was then exposed to the types of games in online games. And of course this is our common concern,” he said.
Sigit ensures that his staff will continue to study this phenomenon, including inviting stakeholders and the community to actively carry out prevention from the smallest scope, namely the family.
“We continue to study it and our hope is that this does not become an understanding which is then followed up, of course, if we allow this, it will certainly have an impact on disrupting the safety of the community and the lives of other people,” he said.
Previously, the spokesperson for Densus 88 Anti-terror Police, AKBP Mayndra Eka Wardhana, revealed that there were 110 children identified as planning acts of terror in a number of areas throughout 2025. This number is a significant increase compared to the previous year.
Apart from that, throughout 2011-2017, Densus 88 arrested 17 children in connection with acts of terror. They have undergone a law enforcement and coaching process.
Mayndra said this was thought to be related to the massive recruitment process carried out through social media and online games.
“So this means we can both conclude that there is a very massive recruitment process carried out through online media,” said Mayndra at a press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (18/11).
Karo Penmas, National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said the hundreds of children ranged in age from 10-18 years and were spread across 23 provinces.
He explained that Densus 88 had made intervention efforts against the 110 children as a preventive measure against the planned terror attack.
Densus itself has previously arrested five people whose role was to recruit children and students to join terrorism networks.
The suspects recruited children and students by utilizing digital spaces, from social media, online games, messaging applications to closed sites.
