Nadiem First Trial of Chromebook Laptop Corruption Case Today

today, Tuesday (16/12), facing the first trial of the alleged corruption case in the digitization of education in the procurement of Chromebook laptops within the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022, at the Corruption Crime Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.
“The initial trial schedule for the Kemendibudristek Chromebook procurement case with defendant Nadiem Makarim and his friends is Tuesday, December 16 2025,” said Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Firman Akbar to reporters.
The initial trial has an agenda for reading the indictment, which will be presided over by Chief Judge Purwanto Abdullah.

Apart from Nadiem, there are also three other suspects who will face the trial to read the indictment in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebook laptops on the same day, namely the Technology Consultant of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ibrahim Arief and the Director of Primary Schools (SD) at the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Culture in 2020-2021 as well as Budget User Authority within the Directorate of Elementary Schools of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year, SriWahyuningsih.
Apart from that, there is also a Director of Junior High Schools (SMP) at the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2020-2021 as well as a Budget User Authority (KPA) within the Directorate for Middle Schools at the Ministry of Education and Culture for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year, Mulyatsyah.
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) revealed that state losses due to alleged corruption cases in the digitization of education in the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022 reached IDR 2.1 trillion.
“The total loss to the state reached more than IDR 2.1 trillion,” said the Director of Prosecution at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Riono Budisantoso at the Jampidsus AGO Building, Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
Riono said this case was related to the procurement of technology, information and communication (ICT) devices in the form of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM) which was carried out in 2019-2022.
There are five suspects in the case, namely Nadiem Makarim, Sri Wahyuningsih, Ibrahim, Mulyatsyah, and former Special Staff to the Minister of Education and Research and Technology, Jurist Tan.However, Jurist Tan’s files have not been handed over, because the suspect is still at large.
