A motorcyclist died after falling and being hit by a bus

on Jalan Pakubuwono, South Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12).

This accident started when the victim M Akmal Haikal (21) was riding his motorbike and was traveling on Jalan Pakubuwono from west to east.

“It is suspected that he was careless and lacked concentration, so the motorbike he was riding slipped and fell on the road,” said Head of Sub-Directorate for Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Ojo Ruslani in his statement, Thursday (18/12).
Shortly after the victim fell, a Minitrans Jakarta bus driven by Waryanto (47) was walking behind him.It is suspected that because the distance was too close, the bus driver did not have time to dodge until he finally hit the victim’s motorbike which had fallen on the road.
“Unable to avoid it and crashed into the Honda Beat motorbike driven by the victim,” said Ojo.
As a result of the accident, the victim suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.The victim’s body was then evacuated to Fatmawati Hospital for further examination.
Ojo said that the Gakkum Unit of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya was still conducting an investigation into the accident.
“In the process of investigation,” he said.
Transjakarta Statement
Separately, Transjakarta handed over the handling of the case of the death of a motorbike rider after being hit by a Minitrans bus in South Jakarta, to Polda Metro Jaya.
Head of the Transjakarta Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, said that his party was saddened by this incident.
“Transjakarta expresses its deep condolences for the death of the motorbike rider, who was involved in an incident with the minitrans bus operator Koantas Bima (KBM 220020) route 8E. Currently the case is being handled by the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya,” said Ayu when contacted, Thursday (18/12).
The accident was recorded on a surveillance camera (CCTV), and the video circulated on social media.
In the video circulating, the victim can be seen falling while turning a corner.It was also recorded that the Minitrans bus behind it could not escape and finally hit the victim.
