Ministry of Youth and Sports Signs MoU with Attorney General’s Office, What to Discuss?

) RI signed a memorandum of understanding or MoU with the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) at the Kemenpora office, Jakarta, Monday (24/11).
The Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, explained the aims and objectives of welcoming the Indonesian Attorney General, Sanitiar Burhanudin as an effort to request assistance and supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ strategic programs.
“There are many benchmarks that I mentioned earlier, for example regarding the different preparations for each sport. For example, tennis and badminton use different circuits compared to weightlifting with TCs abroad,” said Erick at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Monday (24/11).

“Then there are plans to build sports academies and training centers which of course really have to be prepared for the future of our sports. That’s why he has the same commitment to caring about young people and sports,” added Erick.
By signing the MoU with the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office, Erick hopes that policy makers can carry out their responsibilities according to applicable procedures.Because, he continued, programs that require government funding require complete administration.
“This is a good intention. Indeed, in the process [of using the budget] there are often temptations. That’s what needs to be guarded against. We have to maintain all governance,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Attorney General, Sanitiar Burhanuddin, stated that his party would supervise all Kemenpora programs that absorb the APBN.He expressed his commitment to take firm action against all forms of fraud.
“What we accompany are all activities carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports when it comes to outgoing budgets. We also accompany governance,” said Burhanuddin.
“We have accompanied and directed them. If we continue to commit [misappropriation], we will take firm action. We can punish them administratively. We can carry out administrative punishments,” he emphasized.
