The government targets Indonesian apparel and shoe products to receive tariffs
import
under 19 percent of
United States
(USA).
Deputy for Coordination of Economic Cooperation and Investment at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Edi Prio Pambudi, said that apparel and shoes are products that the US cannot produce in the near future.
“We will still try to cooperate with some of our products that they really need and cannot provide them in the near future. (For example) ready-made clothes, shoes,” said Edi when met at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Friday (14/11).

“We must (try to keep the tariff below 19 percent), because we have also provided many benefits to them (the US). So we have to balance it,” he continued.
Apart from that, Indonesia and the US are still negotiating tariffs for several commodities that the US cannot produce to be subject to a 0 percent tariff.
The negotiations, he continued, are targeted for completion in November.Negotiations are expected to occur with the principle of mutual benefit, aka mutual benefit between the two countries.
“If it can be finished this month, we are pushing for it to be finished this month. It all depends on the flexibility of the US to be able to understand this,” he explained.
US President Donald Trump has set tariffs for imported goods from other countries entering his country.
For Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries, the majority received tariffs of 19 percent from Trump, including Indonesia.
Trump reduced import tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 percent to 19 percent.Trump announced this agreement on July 15 after communicating with President Prabowo Subianto.
However, the government continues to make efforts to negotiate tariff exemptions for several leading export commodities.
