The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) revealed the culprit behind prices
Oilita
in a number of areas exceeds the Highest Retail Price (
HET
) determined by the government.
Based on data from the Ministry of Trade’s Basic Needs Market Monitoring System (SP2KP), Minyakita is priced between IDR 17,000 to IDR 19,000 per liter, well above the HET of IDR 15,700 per liter.
Director of Commercial Order at the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Commercial Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade, Mario Josko, said that the trigger for the high price of Minyakita was caused by distribution factors between retailers.

“In some places the high prices are usually taken from retailer to retailer. So, he takes it from the next shop, he sells it in his shop, then he finally raises it,” said Mario, when reviewing the availability of cooking oil commodities ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) Christmas and New Year at Pucang Anom Market, Surabaya, East Java, Friday (5/12).
Even so, he ensured that the stock of Minyakita in the markets of Surabaya, East Java, was relatively safe ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru), and the price did not exceed HET IDR 15,700.
“So from the national average, the price of Minyakita is relatively stable this month. We hope that ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN) the stock will remain maintained and prices will also be stable,” said Mario.
However, the Ministry of Trade is still making a number of efforts to anticipate the surge in demand for the government brand’s simple packaged cooking oil ahead of Christmas, especially from the producer side.
This is because the Minyakita producer which operates in Surabaya is also tasked with supplying needs in the Eastern Indonesia region.
“We continue to coordinate regarding stock readiness. This means that we hope that Bulog can also help to increase and strengthen supply in the people’s market, apart from existing producers,” he said.
For this reason, the Ministry of Trade asks all stakeholders, from producers to local governments, to participate in monitoring the supply and price of Minyakita on the market.
“Hopefully the supply of (Minyakita) until HBKN Christmas and New Year can also continue,” he concluded.
