According to Amin, the number of madrasa teachers who have not undergone professional certification is quite high.
Moreover, he continued, the law has mandated that all teachers must be certified 10 years after the Law on Teachers and Lecturers was promulgated.
“In fact, if you ask how madrasas are, we still have a very large number of 437 thousand madrasa teachers who are not yet certified,” said Amin.
“So this means that consciously or unconsciously, all of us in this country have violated the law,” he added.
He revealed that this high number was not only due to external factors, namely teacher readiness.According to Amin, this condition was also caused by budget limitations.
“The budget posture given to, especially the Ministry of Religion, is not directly proportional to the need for certification,” he said.
On that occasion, Chairman of the DPR Baleg, Bob Hasan, explained that the review of the Law on Teachers and Lecturers was based on the condition of inequality in teaching staff between educational institutions.
Referring to the Constitutional Court decision Number 3 of 2024 and Article 24 paragraph 1 of the Teacher and Lecturer Law, he said, there should no longer be any differences between teachers and lecturers in schools, private universities and state educational institutions.
However, in fact, there are differences between teachers and lecturers at each type and level of education, in terms of welfare and protection.
Bob said that his party wants the Teacher and Lecturer Law to have strategic steps in developing national education.According to him, the welfare, qualifications and protection rights of teachers and lecturers must be a serious concern.
“The basic problem that triggered the review was concerns regarding injustice and exclusion of private madrasah and private higher education institutions,” he said.
