Hundreds of Indonesian citizens (WNI) returned to Indonesia by sea with one disembarkation point, namely Batam Center Ferry Port, Riau Islands.

“A total of 300 (three hundred) Indonesian citizens/PMI from vulnerable groups were successfully repatriated from the Immigration Detention Depot/Immigration Detention in the Johor Bahru area, Malaysia by sea on November 13 2025,” said the official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday (13/11).
In more detail, the Indonesian citizens consisted of 221 men, 66 women, 5 boys and 8 girls.
Those who were repatriated were vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, mothers and children, unaccompanied minors, as well as Indonesian citizens/PMI who had been at the Johor Bahru Immigration Detention Depot for more than six months and were experiencing financial constraints.
The repatriation process was divided into two groups.One group departs from Pasir Gudang Port, Johor, Malaysia, and the other group departs from the departure point at Batam Center Ferry Port, Riau Islands, Indonesia.
The process of coordinating arrival to return to the area of ​​origin and the rehabilitation and reintegration process are coordinated by the Riau Islands Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection and Service Center (BP3MI), Batam Indonesian Migrant Worker Service Post (p4MI) and supported by related institutions such as the Riau Islands Police, Riau Islands Manpower Office, Batam Special Class I Immigration, Batam Class I Port Health Office, and other agencies.
The Indonesian Citizens/PMI from Vulnerable Groups expressed their deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru and all related Ministries/Institutions for facilitating their return.
These Indonesian citizens also really appreciate the presence of the state in providing assistance so that they can return to their homeland.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to the Indonesian people to always follow the applicable laws and regulations when working abroad.
