) RI, Major General TNI Djoko Purwanto confirmed that Indonesia’s collaboration with the French state-owned weapons company KNDS is starting to show concrete results in technological development

This was conveyed by Djoko at the 2025 Defense Technology Forum, which is a forum for implementing Indonesia-France strategic cooperation in the defense sector.
Djoko explained that the forum was a follow-up to the cooperation agreement previously implemented by President Prabowo Subianto with the President of France.According to Djoko, several Indonesian defense industries have already benefited from this collaboration.

Djoko gave the example of PT Pindad, which has received technology transfer in the production of munitions, including aircraft caliber munitions.
“Several defense industries such as PT Pindad have received benefits

Djoko assessed that KNDS has a strong commitment to supporting the advancement of Indonesian defense technology, not only in the form of procurement of defense equipment but also through technology transfer and manufacturing.
“I see that KNDS has good intentions to develop technology in Indonesia. They are not only in the procurement of defense equipment, but they are also thinking about how the transfer of manufacturing can be carried out in Indonesia,” he said.
Through this forum, Batekhan examined various defense technologies owned by KNDS and deemed them relevant to meet Indonesia’s defense equipment needs.
“We are trying to see what technologies KMDS has and can meet the needs of defense equipment in Indonesia,” said Djoko.
Meanwhile, Chief Representative of KNDS Indonesia, Thomas Gerard, emphasized his company’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with Indonesia, especially in the defense industry sector including with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense’s Batekhan.
“We want to accelerate and strengthen this partnership by developing more strategic industrial cooperation, not only technology with Batakan, but also through manufacturing transfers to local industry,” he stressed.
Regarding Indonesia’s direction towards defense industry independence or achieving self-sufficiency in line with the KNDS strategy in the region.He revealed that the French President’s visit to Indonesia had signed a strategic Letter of Intent (LoI) regarding the procurement of artillery systems and large caliber ammunition.
“In this LoI, there is a request for artillery systems and large caliber ammunition. KNDS is ready to connect this artillery system to Indonesia, and we are also willing to connect large caliber ammunition companies to Indonesia,” he explained.
“By doing this, we contribute to the Indonesian government’s objective of becoming self-sufficient in both main domains,” he concluded.
