He emphasized that the responsibility for financing lies entirely with importers who violate the rules in accordance with the sanctions imposed on them.
“We impose sanctions. The sanction is to close the company. The second is to destroy the importer’s goods. So what was destroyed yesterday was their (importing company) costs,” said Budi at the Ministry of Trade, Central Jakarta, Friday (12/11).

Budi explained that the entire process of destroying illegal imported goods under the authority of the Ministry of Trade was carried out after the violating company was closed and required to destroy its own goods.
With this mechanism, the government does not spend a budget for these activities.
“Yes, we impose sanctions like that. He must be the one to destroy them,” he said.
Budi explained that the obligation to finance the destruction had been carried out by the importers who were prosecuted. Two violating companies have been closed, then all their confiscated goods were destroyed at the company’s internal expense.
The extermination process is taking place in stages and is targeted for completion by the end of November 2025. With this scheme, the costs of extermination are completely outside the state treasury.
Regarding the statement by the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa regarding the cost of destroying illegal balpres containers which was said to reach IDR 12 million, Budi said this figure was part of the handling of illegal imports at the border level which is the authority of Customs and Excise under the Ministry of Finance.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade is moving at level
post-border,
namely after the goods enter and are in domestic circulation.
“No, Mr. Purbaya’s is the one
borders
yeah.I don’t understand, that’s (the Ministry of Finance’s) own policy. As for us, what we caught was post-border.Because that’s our main task,” he explained.
He added that handling at both levels is in different policy realms.
Purbaya’s statement emerged after he revealed plans to change the scheme to destroy illegally imported presidential balpas because up to now it had been wasting the state budget.
According to him, the cost of up to IDR 12 million per container is a burden for the government, including the cost of detaining the perpetrator.
To overcome this, Purbaya initiated the option of re-enumerating illegal balpres to then use it as raw material for the textile industry and sell some of it to MSMEs at low prices.
According to him, this option has received approval from President Prabowo Subianto and involves the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association (AGTI).
He said he had coordinated with the Minister of UMKM Maman Abdurrahman to ensure that the distribution of enumeration results could be utilized by small businesses.
