) RI Nasaruddin Umar said that as many as 80 Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia have physical conditions with very high vulnerability.This means the building is at risk of collapsing.
Nasaruddin said this while attending the International Conference of Indonesian Islam, at Sunan Ampel State Islamic University (Uinsa) Surabaya, Wednesday (26/11).
“We are inventorying around 80 Islamic boarding schools that have a very high level of vulnerability,” said Nasaruddin.

He said this was revealed after President Prabowo Subianto ordered his staff to carry out an audit of Islamic boarding school buildings in Indonesia, following the tragedy of the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building, Sidoarjo, last September.
“That’s why we are collaborating with the direction of the President. Likewise, don’t let something like this happen again. So the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Religion have been asked to collect data on vulnerable Islamic boarding schools,” he said.
Nasaruddin added that Prabowo also instructed that Islamic boarding schools which have high vulnerabilities should be repaired immediately.This is so that the Al Khoziny tragedy, which killed 63 students, does not happen again.
“The president immediately gave instructions that it must be repaired before casualties occurred. Yes, and we are grateful that our president is very proactive in paying special attention to Islamic boarding schools,” he said
Meanwhile, regarding the Al Khoziny tragedy itself, the Minister of Religion admitted that he had directly visited the scene of the incident.His party also provides emergency assistance, and collaborates with other ministries to carry out handling.
“That’s why we cooperated with the direction of the president. Likewise, don’t let something like this happen again. So the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Religion were asked to list vulnerable Islamic boarding schools,” he said.
