He conveyed this at the 2025 Ministry of Economic Affairs Performance Coordination, Evaluation and Control Meeting at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
“(The validity period) was 10 years, reversed to 5 years,” said Agus in front of Kemenimipas officials.
“Because only certain people are blessed by the Almighty whose faces do not change for 5 years. Is that true or not? Usually after 5 years they change. So if we can, we can just return it to 5 years. Yes, be grateful to those who are blessed whose faces have not changed for more than 5 years,” he added.

On that occasion, Agus said that many people were confused by the existence of ordinary and electronic passports. Therefore, he wants there to be only one passport material in the future.
Therefore, he asked his staff to prepare
roadmap
so that in two years or 2027 it can be implemented.
Currently, it is known that there are several types of passports, such as ordinary passports and electronic passports. Then electronic passports are divided into two, namely laminated and polycarbonate.Agus hopes that the passport will be of one type in 2027.
“I also asked for it to be made
road map
for one type of passport. There are no more types of ordinary passports, electronic passports, laminated, polycarbonate.”In the future, I hope that only one type of passport will be established,” said the man who was once Deputy Chief of Police.
Agus hopes that this implementation will mean that passport numbers will be valid for life.
“My hope is that with one passport, hopefully this (number) will be valid for life. Later, the beautiful number can be replaced with PNBP (Non-Tax State Revenue),” he said.
On that basis, Agus encouraged his staff to use up the passport materials currently provided in the warehouse so that the process of one type of passport could be carried out in the next two years.
“I hope that by 2027 we will be able to implement one passport. Please immediately use up what is left. Prepare one type of passport that will be valid throughout Indonesia,” he said.
On that occasion, Agus also admitted that the passport making service was slow.He said there was a limited service quota in the passport application application, namely M-Paspor.
According to Agus, the current service capacity is not commensurate with the high demand for passport services.
“Passport issuance services still have problems related to limited service quotas via the M-Paspor application and the slow passport issuance process,” said Agus.
He said that currently the demand for passports is increasing, not only for pilgrimage trips such as Hajj and Umrah but also because of the high interest of migrant workers and residents who want to go on holiday abroad.
“However, currently there is a phenomenon of high demand for Indonesian migrant workers abroad, and various easy tourism policies set by other countries to attract tourists from Indonesia to vacation there,” he said.
