to immediately return to Indonesia from the Umrah pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
This was explained by the Head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benni Irwan, who claimed that his party continues to monitor this issue.

According to him, Home Affairs Minister Tito will examine and impose sanctions on Mirwan because he performed the Umrah when Aceh experienced a major disaster.
“The Minister of Home Affairs [Tito] yesterday directly telephoned the person concerned [South Aceh Regent Mirwan MS], telling him to go home. The Minister of Home Affairs immediately responded and contacted the person concerned to immediately return to his homeland, back to Aceh,” explained Benni in a telephone connection with

The Ministry of Home Affairs team itself has now left for Aceh.His party hopes to be able to carry out an examination of Mirwan MS regarding his departure to the Holy Land when South Aceh was ravaged by floods and landslides.
“So, we are having an inspection because he [Mirwan MS] left South Aceh. [Inspection and sanctions] are in accordance with applicable regulations,” added Benni.
The news about Mirwan MS’s departure for Umrah itself only became known to the Ministry of Home Affairs after it was widely reported in a number of mass media.Benni himself admitted that he was surprised when he found out about this.
The Ministry of Home Affairs immediately checked with the Regional Government (Pemda) of South Aceh Regency, which confirmed that Mirwan had indeed gone on Umrah.According to him, Mirwan had applied for permission to leave South Aceh for the Umrah pilgrimage on December 2 2025-December 12 2025.
However, Benni said that this permission or leave was not approved by Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf alias Mualem.That is why the permit letter from Mirwan MS could not be continued to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“The presence of the regional head in the midst of the community is very much hoped for, much awaited. That’s why the Ministry of Home Affairs is disappointed [to hear that the Regent of South Aceh, Mirwan MS, went on Umrah during the disaster],” stressed Benni.
“If the regional head wants to leave the country, he has to have permission. Conditions like this can be said to mean that the Regent of South Aceh [Mirwan MS] is carrying out the Umrah pilgrimage without permission,” he continued.
