“Issues related to education and discipline are resolved peacefully through restorative justice, unlike today where many teachers have to deal with the law,” said Abdul Mu’ti in Surabaya, Tuesday (25/11).

According to him, many teachers are caught in the law because of problems that should be resolved peacefully.
For this reason, the Ministry of Basic Education has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Police Chief regarding handling cases related to education and discipline in schools.He stated that the MoU was in effect.
“We have signed it quite a long time ago with the National Police Chief. So, the RJ program for teachers is basically already running,” he explained.
In the future, the government will carry out wider outreach to the police and all schools in Indonesia.The aim is for the public to understand that education issues do not always need to be brought into the realm of law, especially if they can still be resolved using a persuasive and family approach.
“We want teachers to be calm in teaching, focused on educating. In this way, teachers can provide the best dedication and dharma service to make the nation intelligent,” he said.
He also invited the community to rebuild a culture of mutual trust and respect for the role of teachers.
“Let us solve education problems in a peaceful way, for the good of our children in learning,” he said.
