He said that the puso land is actually on the harvest schedule in the near future, but all affected areas will immediately receive government intervention.Apart from seeds, the Ministry of Agriculture also prepares machinery if farmers need it.
“If you need equipment, he doesn’t have the tools, give him the equipment. The tractor is running,” he said.
Amran emphasized that the flood which submerged around 28 thousand hectares of rice fields, rounded up to 30 thousand hectares as a basis for the need for assistance, did not disrupt national rice production.According to him, the production capacity of Sumatra and Aceh is still in a surplus position.
“There is no impact. Aceh has a surplus of 870 thousand tons, Sumatra also has a surplus. Our rice fields are 11 million hectares, so 30 thousand compared to 11 million is 0.0 percent,” he explained.
He confirmed that seed deliveries will start today.Farmers can also immediately return to planting because the rainy season conditions support accelerated planting.
Apart from production, Amran added that rice stocks in warehouses were also not affected despite widespread flooding in several provinces. This is because the currently available reserves are still in a safe condition.
“It’s safe. It’s not (affected), because it’s already in surplus,” he said when asked about potential stock disruptions.
Large floods and landslides have hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra since the end of November. In Aceh, the Emergency Response Post recorded 173 deaths and more than 443 thousand residents were displaced as of December 2.Thousands of houses, public facilities and agricultural land were damaged.
Basarnas reported a total of 447 deaths from the three provinces, with 399 people still missing. The total number of affected residents reached more than 33 thousand people, while evacuations and searches are still ongoing.
