Maman said the total commercial area area in public infrastructure for MSME entrepreneurs had reached 40.08 percent. However, of this number, only 60 percent has been filled by MSMEs.
Low occupancy is due to rental costs, places that may be considered less strategic, and product quality.
For this reason, the Ministry of MSMEs today held a coordination meeting with regional governments and state-owned public facility operators, such as PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), and Angkasa Pura.
“Our target is basically 2026, everything must be filled 100 percent. This is part of the program we are planning later,” he said.
Article 60 PP no.7 of 2021 paragraph 1 states that ministries/institutions and regional governments, BUMN, BUMD, and/or private business entities are obliged to provide places for the promotion and development of Micro and Small Businesses of at least thirty percent of the total land area of commercial areas, the size of shopping areas, and/or strategic promotional places on public infrastructure.
Then, paragraph 2 of the article explains what is meant by public infrastructure as including terminals, airports, ports, train stations, rest areas and toll road services, as well as other public infrastructure determined by the central government and/or regional government.
“Providing places for promotion and development of micro and small businesses is carried out by paying attention to safety and security aspects as well as maintaining order in public infrastructure services,” article 60 paragraph 3.
