Two people died after a Navy plane
Mexico
crashed in waters off the coast of the state of Texas,
United States
, while carrying out a medical transfer mission, Monday (22/12).
According to flight tracking website Flight Radar, the plane took off from Merida in Mexico’s Yucatan state at 18.46 GMT and was last detected at 21.01 GMT over Galveston Bay, near Scholes International Airport.

In a statement, the Mexican Navy Secretariat said that eight people were on board the plane which was carrying out a humanitarian mission when the accident occurred.

, four people were rescued alive and two people were declared dead.
Search efforts are still ongoing, in collaboration with the United States Coast Guard, to evacuate the two other people who were still on board the crashed plane.
The crash occurred as the plane approached Galveston, Texas.
The special medical transport mission was coordinated with a foundation in Mexico that treats children with severe burns.
