“Mrs. Megawati’s greeting conveys a very important message. The BMKG estimates that a tropical cyclone will occur in southern Java. All PDI Perjuangan ranks have been given directions to prepare and be at the forefront of helping people affected by disasters,” said Hasto in front of thousands of PDIP cadres.
For this reason, Hasto appealed to all PDIP cadres to be more sensitive and continue to engage in society, from mitigation to disaster management. This has also been carried out by PDIP through the Disaster Management Agency (Baguna) at branch to central levels.
“This is very important. Thank God, in the midst of the natural disasters that occurred, PDI Perjuangan was at the forefront through Baguna, in defending the interests of the people,” he said.
Hasto also reminded cadres to help maintain the balance of nature.Reflecting on the flood and landslide disasters that hit three regions of Sumatra, the party does not want similar incidents to happen again.
Helping disaster victims must be a state priority
Apart from that, Hasto also highlighted the state’s obligation to help communities affected by disasters. He continued, aid should be the country’s priority.
“The priority scale for the nation and state is to help people affected by disasters,” he said.
Ecological damage, according to Hasto, should also be a trigger for the government to change its policy direction and care more about the environment.
“Nature is angry, Mother Earth is angry at the actions of humans who are unable to maintain the balance of nature,” he said.
