Calvijn explained that investigators are currently combining the results of the crime scene investigation with forensic laboratory examinations and identification from INAFIS.
He explained that this step was to determine the exact cause of the fire.
“This process is important so that the results from the forensic lab and INAFIS can be matched with the crime scene sketch that we made. We compiled it deductively to inductively, starting from the area outside the complex to inside the house,” he said.
Regarding surveillance camera (CCTV) footage around the location, Calvijn said that some of the cameras in the front area of the house were not functioning. However, the team still secured recordings from a number of other points around the complex.
“We have checked several CCTVs. Even though some were damaged, we also took footage from the outer layer of the complex to compare with other facts we found in the field,” he said.
Apart from that, he emphasized that he could not yet conclude whether the house was set on fire or on fire.
“We ask for time. Investigators don’t want to rush to conclusions before all the facts really match up,” he said.
