finally canceled the Lively New Year Festival activities with a budget of IDR 1.2 billion.The planned activity was widely criticized because it was held when a number of areas in North Sumatra, including the city of Medan, were hit by disasters.
Head of the Medan City Tourism Department (Kadispar), M. Odi Anggia Batubara, said the reason for canceling the Lively New Year Festival was because North Sumatra (North Sumatra) was still in a natural disaster situation, which had not yet fully recovered.
“We are canceling the New Year activities with Harmony and Joint Prayer according to the direction of the Mayor of Medan considering that because the disaster conditions have not yet recovered, the weather is still predicted to be unfavorable,” said Odi, Thursday (18/12).

Odi added that the Medan City Government also received a circular from the Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution regarding concern about this natural disaster situation.So that his party carries out the directions of the circular letter.
“The circular letter from the Governor of North Sumatra concerns an appeal for concern about the disaster situation in North Sumatra. So we have canceled the event, thank you,” said Odi.
It is known that on the Medan City LPSE website, a tender was held with the code 10103214000 and the RUP code 61881454. The tender called ‘Festival of the New Year (Harmony of Collective Prayer) was made on December 10 2025. Later, this activity was not held because it received criticism from a number of parties.
