“Commission VIII DPR RI emphasized that every preacher and religious figure has a moral and social responsibility to be a role model for the people, not otherwise cause commotion or social trauma,” said Maman when contacted, Wednesday (12/11).
Maman also asked PBNU to reprimand and provide guidance to Gus Elham.
“We support the steps taken by PBNU and related authorities to provide a strong warning and proportional guidance to those concerned so that this does not happen again in the future,”
Commission VIII, which is in charge of social and religious affairs, admitted that it regretted Gus Elham’s behavior.According to him, his behavior did not reflect good morals in accordance with Islamic values.
Commission VIII, he continued, appealed to all da’wah institutions and religious mass organizations to continue to strengthen mechanisms for monitoring the ethics of da’wah.This is because religious activities must reflect civilized Islamic values and uphold humanity.

“I am committed to improving and turning this incident into a valuable lesson so that similar things do not happen again in the future and I am also determined to convey da’wah in a wiser way in accordance with the nation’s religious, ethical and cultural norms, as well as upholding morals,” he continued.
