Mali coach Fousseni Diawara assessed
U-23 Indonesian National Team
played very well and showed an improvement in quality compared to the first meeting.
The Indonesian U-23 national team managed to hold Mali to a draw with a score of 2-2.This score is clearly a rapid improvement compared to the first meeting when Indonesia lost 0-3.
In Diawara’s view, the short time between matches and changes in Indonesia’s game were the cause of the different results in the second meeting.

“This match was very difficult for us because we just played three days ago but we are very happy. We tried to do our best. I am also happy with the players’ performance, they showed a good mentality.”
“We played against Indonesia, they played very well tonight. They played with heart. They played very strong,” said Diawara after the match.
According to Diawara, the U-23 Indonesian National Team must have studied the shortcomings that were visible in the first match. This was maximized in the second match so that they could achieve a draw.
“They analyzed us very well from the first match. We also performed well but they performed effectively.”
“That’s what punished us. We tried to recover but it was difficult. But overall, this was an interesting match,” said Diawara.
The Indonesia vs Mali match is preparation for the Indonesian U-23 National Team to face the 2025 SEA Games. At the 2025 SEA Games, Garuda Muda has the status of defending champion.
After the match against Mali, the U-23 Indonesian National Team continued to gather and undergo training camps until the SEA Games started.
