Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Special Intelligence (Special Branch) of the neighboring State police had provided information about the sect, its activities, and the involvement of local figures.

“In fact, this group is under monitoring by our security forces,” he was quoted as saying on Saturday (13/12).

“At first glance, his current activities do not represent a threat to national security. So perhaps it is because of this ‘non-threatening’ impression that several political figures are taking part in his activities,” Saifuddin was quoted as saying.

Saifuddin also emphasized that the police would continue to monitor the organization.However, it is not yet clear the name of the sect involved and the type of activity.
Previously, one of the Muslim religious leaders in Malaysia, Mufti Perlis Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, revealed on his Facebook account that several members of parliament and public figures were suspected of being actively involved in this sect.
Saifuddin added that the Special Branch has a special unit that handles the issue of heretical teachings from various religions and beliefs, including monitoring the modus operandi of groups and individuals involved.
