The Malaysian Consulate General in Medan confirmed that a citizen, Asrul Nizam bin Apridwson (30), was reported missing and was suspected of being affected by a landslide in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra.
In a statement received in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian Consulate General in Medan said that it is currently collaborating intensively with the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), West Sumatra BPBD, and Padang Panjang Police to obtain verified information regarding the ongoing search and rescue operations.

, the Malaysian Consulate General also appealed to Malaysian citizens in West Sumatra to comply with all directions from local authorities, such as BNPB, BPBD and Basarnas.
Residents are asked to avoid areas prone to landslides or flooding, and pay attention to the closure of the Padang-Bukittinggi route via the Anai Valley which is still in effect.
In addition, Malaysian citizens who are in the affected areas are advised to immediately report their whereabouts to the Consulate General so that the communication and assistance process can be carried out quickly and precisely.
Previously, flash floods hit the Padang Panjang Twin Bridges on Thursday (27/11) afternoon and cut off access to Padang-Bukittinggi due to flood material blocking the road.
The West Sumatra Regional Police stated that joint officers had been deployed to clean up the material, while the public was asked to postpone travel and look for alternative routes.
BPBD Padang Panjang said the process of evacuating residents around the landslide location was still ongoing, and data collection on affected victims was still being carried out.The BPBD suspects there were fatalities but the number cannot be ascertained.
In other areas, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported a total of 74 victims died due to floods and landslides in Agam Regency, West Sumatra as of November 28, and 78 other residents were still missing.Search operations by the joint team are still ongoing.
