Fighting in New York, Makhachev appeared dominant from the first round.She managed to achieve a unanimous victory (55-45, 55-45, 55-45) even though she failed to knockout Della Maddalena.
After the duel, Makhachev couldn’t express his joy after winning the UFC world title after his welterweight debut.

“This is a dream,” said Makhachev after trainer and UFC legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, slung two belts over his shoulders.
“All the hard work I have done for these two belts. I am very happy. These belts are very heavy and I like it. I worked hard for this moment. My life has changed,” Makhachev was quoted as saying

Makhachev relies more on ground fighting, which is the key to his success.However, he emphasized that the victory over Della Maddalena was according to plan.
“No weights, five rounds without stopping, I can wrestle, I can do whatever I want. This is my plan. This is not a secret. All my opponents know this and no one can stop it,” said Makhachev.
Meanwhile, Della Maddalena chose to leave the octagon after being declared defeated by counting the numbers.The Australian fighter was disappointed that he lost his title belt to Makhachev.
Della Maddalena failed to defend the UFC welterweight title which she previously won from the hands of Belal Muhammad.
