met with the President of China
Xi Jinping
in Beijing on Thursday (4/12) local time.
Macron was accompanied by his wife, Brigitte, when he was warmly welcomed by Xi Jinping who was also accompanied by the first lady, Peng Liyuan, at the Great Hall of the Chinese People.

A number of issues were discussed by the two leaders at the meeting.One of the objectives of Macron’s visit was to ask for China’s help in promoting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Macron also hopes that Xi Jinping will play an important role in promoting stability in Europe amidst tensions between Western countries and Russia.
On that occasion, Macron also hoped that his visit would now further strengthen relations between France and China.This is Macron’s fourth visit to China.
He stressed that France and China must overcome any “differences” at the meeting.
“Sometimes there are differences, but it is our responsibility to overcome them for the greater good,” said Macron, as reported by

Xi Jinping then emphasized the hope that the two countries will have “more stable” relations in the future.
He stressed that China is very willing to work with France to “remove any interference” and “create a more comprehensive and stable strategic partnership between China and France.”
On that occasion, Macron hoped that China could help bring about peace in Ukraine.It is hoped that Macron can play an important role in China as one of Russia’s close friends.
“We must continue our efforts for peace and stability in the world, in Ukraine and other regions affected by war,” Macron said.
