Road access from Lumajang Regency to Malang Regency and vice versa is completely closed.The closure was the result of the eruption

Route closures occurred in the Picket Zero, Ranupani Senduro Curah Kobo’an and Supiturang areas.This is because of the potential for cold lava flooding in Semeru and the potential for landslides on these routes.
“It is still closed for now from 18.00 WIB,” said Lumajang Police Chief, AKBP Alex Sandy Siregar when confirmed, Wednesday (19/11) evening WIB.

With the closure of the Lumajang access to Malang, Alex also appealed to motorists to use the Probolinggo Regency route.
“For motorists heading to Malang from Lumajang via the zero picket route or Pronojiwo and Alone Diimabu to switch to using the Probolinggo Regency route,” he said.
Mount Semeru experienced an eruption and clouds sliding as far as 14 kilometers, Wednesday (19/11), causing hundreds of local residents to flee.
Climbing Mount Semeru to Ranu Kumbolo on the border of Lumajang and Malang Regencies, East Java, was also declared completely closed following the eruption.
Now Mount Semeru has alert status.However, Satriyo said the hot cloud glide was still ongoing, with a maximum amplitude of 40 mm and a sliding distance of more than 14 kilometers.
Meanwhile, visually the weather conditions around Semeru were observed to be cloudy and dark.Currently, access to the Gladak Perak Bridge is closed.
