Rumors that Heimir Hallgrimsson was interested in the Indonesian national team were spread by the Irish media, Irish Examiner.In this report, PSSI is targeting Hallgrimsson in the midst of the moment that determines Ireland’s progress to the 2026 World Cup.
“It is believed that the Indonesian Football Association, whose President is one of the owners of Oxford United, Erick Thohir, has compiled a list of potential coaches but is still waiting for the results of the November transfer window to complete the target,” wrote the Irish Examiner.

Currently PSSI is looking for a new coach for the Indonesian National Team as a replacement for Patrick Kluivert.Kluivert parted ways with PSSI after failing to get Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
One of Hallgrimsson’s flashy reports that attracted the Indonesian national team was his ability to bring Iceland through to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The 2018 World Cup is Iceland’s debut in the biggest football event in the world.Interestingly, Hallgrimsson has similarities with former Indonesian coach Shin Tae Yong, who are both ‘alumni’ of the 2018 World Cup.
South Korea qualified for the 2018 World Cup with Shin Tae Yong replacing Ulrich Stielke in the middle of qualifying.
Another similarity between Hallgrimsson and STY is that both of them gave difficulties to the big World Cup winning teams.
