and Hamas which has been in effect since last October.
“Since October 10, we have seen a ceasefire in Gaza and it has fundamentally stabilized,” said the German chancellor’s spokesman, Sebastian Hille.
According to him, the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza was the “basis for the decision” to lift the arms embargo.

“We hope that all parties will comply with the agreements that have been reached, including a ceasefire, providing humanitarian assistance on a large scale, and that the process will continue in an orderly manner according to the agreement,” he added, reported by Al Jazeera.
Hille did not specify the type and volume of weapons and military equipment that Berlin provided to Israel. However, he confirmed that Germany would continue to examine military exports to Israel on a case-by-case basis, as is standard practice for all countries.
Last August, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced an arms embargo after the Israeli cabinet continued its brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip.
As one of the main arms exporters to Israel, Germany is one of Israel’s “loyal supporters” even though the Zionist state continues to launch attacks on Gaza.
In addition to political and military support for Israel, Germany has also cracked down on Israel’s critics by detaining protesters opposing the Gaza genocide and banning events supporting Palestine.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Germany provided 30 percent of Israel’s major arms imports between 2019 and 2023.
Military assets Germany exports mainly include naval equipment such as the Saar 6 class frigates, which were used to attack Gaza.
