Islam Makhachev
officially became champion in two different UFC classes after defeating
Jack Della Maddalena
in
UFC 322
on Sunday (16/11).
Fighting in New York, United States, Makhachev appeared dominant to beat Jack Della Maddalena.
Makhachev successfully won the welterweight title in an unequal fight.The fighter from Dagestan was in control from the first round to the end.

All the judges finally agreed to give a score of 50-45 for Makhachev’s absolute victory.He became the 11th fighter in UFC history to successfully become champion in a different class.
Thus, Makhachev is certain to be greater than his coach and mentor, Khabib, who has only ever been UFC lightweight world champion.
“This is a dream,” Makhachev said after his trainer, Khabib Nurmagomedov, slung two belts over his shoulders.
“All the hard work I have done for these two belts. I am very happy. These belts are very heavy and I like it. I worked hard for this moment. My life has changed,” Makhachev added.
Makhachev carries the UFC lightweight belt which he won in 2022. In fact, Makhachev was no longer lightweight champion when he decided to move up to welterweight.
Currently Makhachev is just waiting for a challenge from other top fighters in the welterweight class such as Michael Morales, Carlos Prates, Kamaru Usman, Shavkat Rakhmonov or Belal Muhammad.
