Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and defendant in a corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks

, is said to be still undergoing treatment and recovering from surgery.
Meanwhile, Nadiem is scheduled to undergo the first trial in the case of alleged corruption in the education digitalization program in the form of procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM) within the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022, at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (23/12).
“There has been no update from the doctor. Until the doctor declares he is healthy, legally he cannot go to trial,” said Nadiem’s lawyer, Dodi Abdulkadir, to reporters.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) revealed that the defendant in the alleged corruption case in the digitization of education in the procurement of Chromebook laptops within the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022, Nadiem Makarim, was in good health.
“According to information from the public prosecutor, based on the doctor’s statement, the person concerned is healthy and can resume activities,” said Head of the Attorney General’s Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) Anang Supriatna in Jakarta, Monday (22/12).
Regarding whether Nadiem will attend the trial on Tuesday, Anang cannot confirm it yet.
“We’ll see developments tomorrow,” he said.
The initial trial with the agenda of reading the indictment against Nadiem initially took place on Tuesday (16/12), but was postponed because the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for the 2019-2024 period was still absent (suspended detention period) due to illness.
Apart from Nadiem, there are four other suspects in the case, namely, Sri Wahyuningsih, Ibrahim, Mulyatsyah, and former Special Staff to the Minister of Education and Culture, Jurist Tan.Sri, Ibrahim and Mulyatsyah underwent an indictment trial on Tuesday (16/12), while Jurist Tan’s files have not been handed over, because the suspect is still at large.
During the indictment trial against Sri, Ibrahim and Multyatsyah, it was revealed that state losses resulting from this case were estimated to have reached IDR 2.18 trillion.
State losses include IDR 1.56 trillion related to the education digitalization program at the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as US$ 44.05 million or the equivalent of IDR 621.39 billion due to the procurement of unnecessary and useless CDM for the education digitalization program.
At the trial, it was also revealed that several parties were enriched, including Nadiem, who received IDR 809.59 billion from PT Solusi Karya Anak Bangsa (PT AKAB) through PT Gojek Indonesia.
