As a result of the fire, 94 died and 900 others were displaced.
This incident became one of the deadliest fires in decades in Hong Kong.
When the fire occurred, a number of buildings were being renovated and there was a lot of bamboo scaffolding as part of the construction.

Authorities said the styrofoam caused the fire to spread more quickly within the block and burned apartments through the corridors.
