The Public Prosecutor (JPU) demanded that the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) punish a former employee of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly or AIPA,
Laras Faizati
Khairunnisa, with a sentence of 1 year in prison.
The prosecutor stated that based on the facts that emerged at trial, Laras was deemed to have been proven to have committed criminal acts related to incitement during the demonstration that led to riots at the end of last August as stated in Article 161 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
“Sentenced the defendant Laras Faizati Khairunnisa to prison for 1 year, reduced by the time the defendant was detained with an order for the defendant to remain in detention,” said the prosecutor when reading out the criminal indictment at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (24/12)

In his considerations, the prosecutor revealed a number of aggravating and mitigating factors.
The aggravating circumstances are that Laras’ actions disturbed the community, caused commotion in the community or demonstrations that could cause damage to government public facilities.
Meanwhile, mitigating factors include that Laras is the backbone of the family, has never been convicted, and behaves politely at trial.
According to the prosecutor, Laras is considered guilty of broadcasting, displaying or posting in public writings that incite the commission of a criminal act, oppose the general authorities with violence, or oppose something else as mentioned in the article above, with the intention of making the inflammatory content known or better known to the public.
The alleged crime occurred on Friday, August 29 2025 at around 17.00 WIB, coinciding with a large-scale demonstration which ended in riots.
One of Laras’ social media content that was considered inflammatory was when he reposted a 1 minute 32 second video by adding the sentence:
Most corrupt most useless most sickening disgusting stupid and morally bankrupt institution EVER.Fuck the police literally yall are just a bunch of dumfucks and I hope every single one of you and your bloodline rots in the deepest hell
.
“If translated into Indonesian the meaning is: the most corrupt, most useless, most disgusting, stupidest and most morally bankrupt institution that has ever existed. Fuck the police, you really are just a bunch of fools and I hope all of you and your bloodline rot in the deepest hell,” said the prosecutor in his indictment.
Laras was brought before the court on charges of violating Article 45A paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (2) or Article 48 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 32 paragraph 2 of Law Number 11 of 2008 as amended by Law 1/2024 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE).
Then the third and fourth charges are in accordance with Article 160 or 161 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
During his previous examination of the defendant, Laras stated that he had no intention of inciting the masses through his posts on social media.
He said that what was conveyed on his social media was a resident’s outburst of emotion regarding the death of an online motorbike taxi driver named Affan Kurniawan as a result of being run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle.
“It was just my spontaneous disappointment and anger because of the series of events that occurred, starting from when Affan Kurniawan was run over, died, and there was also a video that was spread that the tank car just ran away irresponsibly,” said Laras at the trial Monday, December 15 2025.
Meanwhile, regarding the photo of smiling while pointing at the National Police Headquarters Building, Laras explained that the expression that was the opposite of the strong sentence on his social media was a form of sarcasm.
“I really didn’t have any intention of provoking or anything. That’s the image I have on Instagram and my life, which is silly and fun in English. So there is no seriousness in that post,” said Laras.
