Pumpkin Doll
has the opportunity to have his own film. This is because Sony Pictures has pocketed the rights or broadcast rights to this Chinese doll brand with the aim of making a film and, if successful, a new franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter
on Friday (14/11) reported that no producers or filmmakers were involved at this stage, because the agreement was only signed last week.

It’s still too early to say that Labubu will be made into a live-action or animated film.Sony Pictures has also not commented.
The Labubu doll was originally designed by Hong Kong-born, Europe-based artist, Kasing Lung, and was originally created by How2 Work as part of its line of monster dolls.
The monster doll shot to fame when Chinese retailer Pop Mart took over its production and sales in 2019.

It took several years for the monster doll with pointy ears and sharp teeth to become popular until it finally went global recently.
One factor was that Pop Mart sold the dolls through blind boxes, meaning buyers never knew what they were getting until they opened the packaging, which then also fueled demand.
It’s also created a red-hot secondary market, where collectors pay exorbitant amounts to get the dolls they want online, at pop-up sales, and in brick-and-mortar stores.
Not only that, Labubu limited editions and auctions have resulted in prices of items reaching six figures.
The second factor is the adoption of these toys by certain celebrities, especially BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who in 2024 uses them as accessories.
These toys first became a sensation in the Southeast Asian market before taking the rest of the world by storm.Pop Mart’s profits will reportedly jump 350 percent by early 2025.
Labubu is the name of the main monster doll in this line, which features leader Zimomo, companion Mokoko, and boyfriend Tycoco as characters, among others.
It’s probably too early to say whether Labubu will fall into a trend like Beanie Babies or something more long-lasting like Hello Kitty.
While it used to be that Hollywood projects inspired toys, especially in the last decade the opposite has happened, with toys now inspiring films.
The Lego Movie, released in 2014, was perhaps one of the first brands without a storyline or even pre-existing characters to be successfully produced at a major studio, earning critical acclaim and incredible box office.
Recently, Barbie achieved a similar feat, earning more than US$1 billion at the global box office while earning eight Oscar nominations.
Sony and Mattel Films have also announced that they are developing a film based on View Master.
