The senior Kiai of Nahdlatul Ulama who held the Kubro Alim Ulama and NU Elders Conference conveyed an appeal to the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (

) to immediately carry out islah within 3×24 hours
The Kubro Deliberation was held on Sunday (21/12) at the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, East Java.The forum was attended by hundreds of kiai, masyayikh and NU administrators from all over Indonesia, both in person and online.

There were 601 participants who attended in person and 546 participants online, representing 308 PWNU and PCNU.
The older Kiai who attended included KH Anwar Manshur, KH Nurul Huda Djazuli, KH Ma’ruf Amin, KH Said Aqil Sirodj, KH Muhammad Nuh Addawami and KH Zaki Mubarok.
Apart from that, there are PBNU Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah ranks, leaders of central level autonomous institutions and bodies, Islamic boarding school administrators, as well as PWNU and PCNU representatives from all over Indonesia.

Spokesperson for the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, East Java, KH Oing Abdul Muid or Gus Muid, said the forum expressed deep concern over the escalation of internal conflict in PBNU, even though various ishlah efforts had been made through forums of NU community members and elders, including deliberations at the Al-Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, and the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang.
The prolonged conflict is considered to have had an impact not only on the internal organization, but also on the trust of the people and the public in NU as jam’iyyah diniyah ijtima’iyah.The senior kiai believe that this condition should not be allowed to drag on.
“Musyawarah Kubro views that the prolonged internal PBNU conflict has undermined the dignity and authority of Jam’iyyah Nahdlatul Ulama, and has actually eroded the trust of the people and the public in NU,” said Gus Muid, Sunday.

The ulama and NU elders firmly asked Rais ‘Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar and the General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf to immediately carry out islah seriously, starting from Sunday (21/12) at 12.00 WIB.
“In order to maintain the integrity of Jam’iyyah and restore the honor of Nahdlatul Ulama, Musyawarah Kubro asked Rais ‘Aam and the General Chairperson of PBNU to perform ishlah seriously, no later than 3 × 24 hours, starting from Sunday, December 21 2025 at 12.00 WIB,” he said.
Options other than islah
If the agreement is not achieved within the deadline, Musyawarah Kubro requests that leadership authority be handed over to the PBNU Mustasyar ranks.
The move is seen as a constitutional way to ensure the organization’s survival.
“If the agreement cannot be implemented, Musyawarah Kubro asks both parties to hand over authority and trust to Mustasyar PBNU to organize the 2026 Nahdlatul Ulama Congress,” he said.
MLB last option
The forum is also preparing a final scenario if the mandate is not handed over to Mustasyar.
If these conditions occur, the senior kiai agreed to encourage the holding of the Extraordinary Congress (MLB) through NU structural support in the regions.
The MLB is planned to be held no later than before the departure of the first group of Hajj pilgrims in 2026. Meanwhile, the MLB committee is prepared by and from elements of the PWNU and PCNU, involving internal NU elements deemed necessary.
“If this authority is not handed over to Mustasyar, then the Kubro Conference agrees to organize MLB by raising support from 50 percent + 1 PWNU and PCNU,” said Gus Muid.
