Hanif explained that the eight companies were suspected of contributing to worsening extreme flooding in the North Sumatra region.The eight companies consist of industrial plant companies, gold mines and palm oil companies.

Hanif said this finding was also confirmed by the results of satellite image analysis.The Deputy for Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Environment, he said, had sent summons to the eight companies on Monday (8/12).
He explained that the construction was carried out to ask for an explanation from the eight companies regarding the origin of the wood that was washed away during heavy rain in North Sumatra.
“We asked them to explain all the issues, including providing very high resolution satellite imagery at the time of the incident so that we can prove where this wood came from, so the satellite imagery must be brought to us for us to formulate,” he said.
